Research in Oncology Dorset is underpinned by cohesive, well organised cancer services.Research is high priority for the Dorset Cancer Partnership with its strong, functional tumour site specific groups. Recruitment into national trials is good with particular strengths in breast and haematological malignancies.
Collaboration occurs between clinicians from Dorset NHS organisations and Bournemouth University academics generally facilitated by the Bournemouth University Clinical Research Unit and its Centre for Postgraduate Medical Research and Education. The University with its schools of nursing and psychology has expertise in malignancy related studies. There is a wealth of technology across the organisations including a PET centre, functional MRI, flow cytometry, a range of ‘omics relevant hardware.
